Participated in Anatel-ITU’s panel discussion on Abusive Telemarketing, Challenges on March 25, 2022. Spoke about learnings from our work under the aegis of ITU-D’s SG1, Q6/1. No matter how complex our digital world becomes, solving for the balance between useful aspects of digital services and protecting consumers from harm remains a critical component of good regulation and industry practices. This is also important for retaining consumer trust, the absence of which could slow down the uptake of digital services. Given the manifold benefits that digital communications and services can bring, this would be a most undesirable outcome.
