Abstract

One cannot write about rural broadband in rural India without addressing the widely prevalent viewpoint often expressed by skeptics in this regard. India’s low literacy levels, multiplicity of regional languages and lack of availability of locally relevant content has often been quoted as an insurmountable stumbling block in the uptake of broadband. However the author feels that once there is access to broadband by way of ubiquitous connectivity, the pace of development of the all necessary content too will gain strength.
