Abstract
This article analyses the existing provisions in Indian law relating to prevention of man made disasters in the context of the boat tragedy that took place on January 26, 2014 wherein 21 persons died. It suggests a need to review provisions relating to accountability and the need to encourage public awareness about safety measures and rights as consumers.
