Enforcement Practices and Emerging Trends in Consumer Protection

Presented at CARICOM Competition Commission (CCC)’s Conference on 15th June 2023. Shared thoughts on various consumer protection issues and India’s remarkable progress in consumer-centric digital transformation. As stated in the CARRICOM Press Release, ‘Emerging Trends in the Digital Economy for consumer protection was the session’s main focus, with Professor Dr Archana Gulati presenting on developments in India. Other speakers were Dr Iris Benöhr of Queen Mary University on consumer credit and debt in the UK and EU. Ms Vashti Maharaj of the Commonwealth spoke about consumer data protection and cybersecurity issues. CCC’s Ms Nievia Ramsundar supported the segment with an overview of key legislative issues to protect the digital consumer.
